NVMe compute namespace
An NVMe compute namespace provides a target for program execution rather than an ordinary logical-block storage volume.
Scope: In Computational Programs 1.3, compute namespaces are not associated with NVM Sets or Endurance Groups. Their supported program types and reachable memory namespaces can differ. [1]
Discovery: Use namespace identification and command-set-specific Identify data, then inspect program capabilities and the Reachability Groups and Reachability Associations logs. A compute namespace can reach zero or more memory namespaces; sharing a controller does not establish reachability. [1]
Addressing: A Program Index (PIND) selects a program within one compute namespace. Memory Range Set identifiers are also local to that namespace. Equal identifiers in different namespaces do not establish a shared program or memory-range set. [1]
Relations
Limitations
- An NVMe label does not establish support for arbitrary executable formats. [1]

Sources & caveats
- Version-pinned specification review, not a hardware test or a claim of universal device support.
- The controller-sharing caution follows from namespace-specific reachability requirements. [1]
