F2FS checkpoint

An F2FS checkpoint records a consistent filesystem recovery point, including information selecting valid metadata-table versions.

The documented checkpoint=disable mode preserves an older recovery view across unmount or shutdown while disabled. In upstream Linux v6.12 and v6.16, the regular-file fsync path can return successful data-writeback status before later recovery-metadata handling when SBI_CP_DISABLED is set. It is not merely a longer checkpoint interval. [1] [2] [3]
