Failure burst
Under an adjacent-gap rule, a failure burst is a maximal sequence of event starts in which every consecutive gap is no greater than a specified window.
Ford et al. use this rule for node unavailability. A burst may span longer than its gap limit; a singleton is also a burst. Temporal grouping does not by itself establish a common cause. [1] State the event-selection, timing and boundary conventions before comparing counts.
