Fibre Channel frame
A Fibre Channel frame is an FC-2 transfer unit delimited by SOF and EOF, with a header, variable data field and CRC.
The data field includes optional headers, so its 2112-octet architectural maximum is not guaranteed application capacity; login can negotiate less. [1]
Linux v6.12 defines a 24-byte header and FC_MAX_FRAME as 2136 bytes, excluding CRC and delimiters. [2] RFC 3643 includes the CRC in frame content and gives a separate delimiter representation for IP encapsulation. Do not treat that representation as a native-link wire-size formula. [3]
