iWARP
iWARP is an IETF RDMA protocol suite whose TCP mapping combines RDMAP, Direct Data Placement and MPA framing over TCP.
Scope: RFC 5040 defines the broader suite to permit TCP, SCTP or other transport mappings; this record explains its TCP mapping. RDMAP supplies RDMA operations above Direct Data Placement (DDP). [1]
Framing: MPA adapts TCP's reliable, ordered byte stream to the record boundaries DDP needs. A TCP connection alone does not implement this RDMA stack. [2]
Storage binding: iWARP is one provider for NVMe/RDMA, not another spelling of NVMe/TCP. Delivery into a remote buffer is not by itself a storage-persistence guarantee. [3] [1]
