MCTP endpoint ID
An MCTP endpoint ID (EID) is an 8-bit logical address for an endpoint within an MCTP network.
Different networks can use the same EID. Linux therefore represents a destination using both a network identifier and an endpoint address. [2]
An EID can be reassigned to another endpoint, so it is not a durable device identity. For a device connected to multiple buses, Get Endpoint UUID correlates its endpoints. Keep that identity evidence separate from the address used for a particular collection. [1]
