SMB FLUSH
SMB FLUSH is an SMB2/SMB3 request to propagate cached information for an open file to its backing persistent store, or to wait for a named-pipe reader to consume previously written data.
File and named-pipe opens have different completion contracts. [1] After session, tree, open and access validation, a persistent open returns success without another object-store flush; other opens request that flush and wait for completion. [2] Separately, SMB 3.x CREATE requires write-through for a continuously available disk share when the server advertises persistent-handle support; this rule does not require a persistent handle to be requested or granted. [3] A successful response is a protocol result, not an independent hardware power-loss test.
