Drive firmware revision
A drive firmware revision is the vendor-assigned version identifier reported for the firmware running on a storage drive.
Interpret the identifier with the exact model and OEM/platform, not as a globally comparable number. HPE's separate 32K and 40K issue packages are explicitly not interchangeable. [1] Inventory should establish the running revision; Cisco documents management and inquiry paths for its affected drives. [3] A downloaded update package alone does not demonstrate that the device is remediated. A serial-number advisory lookup may be a historical applicability list rather than a live remediation record: Cisco's 28,224-hour FAQ says its list is not updated after software fixes. [4]
