Intra-disk redundancy

Intra-disk redundancy stores redundant information within a drive to reconstruct certain losses of sectors on that drive.

It differs from redundancy distributed across drives [1].

In the companion worked example, a 16+2 interleaved XOR layout can recover some two-position losses but not all. Losing the whole device also loses its local redundancy. Preserve the code construction, group mapping and independent recovery sources when assessing protection [2].
