Data scrubbing
Data scrubbing is proactive verification of stored data to discover errors before ordinary access requires the affected content.
Specify the verification layer and repair behavior: media verification, parity checks and filesystem checksum scans are not equivalent.
Relations
- related
- latent-sector-error, staggered-scrubbing, raid-5
Limitations
- Detection alone does not supply a valid replacement copy; repair depends on available redundancy. [1]
- Linux MD check is not guaranteed to be read-only for every RAID level. [2]
