Logical journaling
Logical journaling records recoverable changes to logical objects or operations rather than simply reproducing their on-disk representation.
Linux's XFS design uses logical records for in-core inode and quota changes alongside physical buffer logging and intents; the categories can coexist. [1] A compact record does not by itself establish lower device traffic or correct interrupted recovery. [2]
