ReFS
ReFS is a Windows file system with checksummed metadata, optional file-data integrity streams and repair integration with resilient storage.
Repair through Storage Spaces requires a usable alternate copy supplied by a mirror or parity space. Detection alone cannot recreate missing bytes. Keeping a volume available while isolating uncorrectable corruption does not mean every file remains accessible. [1]
NTFS and ReFS are distinct file systems, not interchangeable integrity settings. File-data coverage in ReFS must be assessed through integrity streams rather than inferred from the volume's name. [1]
Block cloning requires matching integrity-stream settings and the same ReFS volume. Shared regions avoid a physical copy until modifying writes allocate new storage. A clone therefore does not establish an independent recovery copy. [2]
