SAS wide port
A SAS port containing more than one PHY, allowing separate connections across the port's links.
Port membership depends on matching local and attached SAS addresses, not merely on sharing a connector. One connection uses one pathway even when the port has multiple PHYs. [1]
A four-PHY connector can serve one wide port or separate narrower ports. A dual-port drive instead exposes two ports, which may each be narrow. [2] Redundant paths additionally depend on the intervening controllers, expanders and cabling. [3]
