Serial ATA Tunneled Protocol
The SAS protocol that carries SATA communication through a SAS domain to an attached SATA device.
An expander-connected SATA path uses STP through the SAS portion and native SATA on the final device link. SATA frames and flow-control rules remain relevant at that boundary. [2]
STP is not SCSI-to-ATA command translation. SAT defines that mapping, and software may perform it separately from transport. A SATA device appearing through a SCSI software interface does not establish that the device itself speaks SSP. [3] [4]
