iSCSI Command Sequence Number

An iSCSI Command Sequence Number (CmdSN) identifies a command's position in the session-wide delivery sequence.

It is a 32-bit serial number; immediate commands carry the current value without advancing it. ExpCmdSN and MaxCmdSN delimit the command window. Delivery ordering is not a durability guarantee. [1]

The paired analysis includes an illustrative cross-connection trace, not measured traffic. [2]
